Willis Hardwick with his family settled in Woodvillel, Township, two miles south of the village in 1829 where Mr. Hardwick and his family settled in Woodville Township, two miles south of the village in 1829 where Mr. Harwick and his wife died at an advanced age.  They came from Todd County, Kentucky, where Willis married his Georgia-born sweetheart, Miss Annie Scoggins on 18 Feb 1824.

He died 11 Jan 1866 at the age of 82 years and is buried in the Fry Cemetery in Greene Co., Illinois.
